Bagan was in the past the capital of the Pagan kingdom. The kingdom that unified the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar. During the kingdom’s apogee 4,446 Buddhist temples and pagodas were builded and 3,822 of them still survive in the present day.
This impressive complex of temples and pagodas is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar.
